DEVELOPMENT TESTS AT FAIRBORN OBSERVATORY
After relocating the telescope to Fairborn Observatory in Arizona, we plan to spend about one week per month on site fixing mechanical problems, aligning and testing the optics, perfecting our guiding strategy, and running tests on the control system as it develops. Plans and results for these sessions are given below and will be expanded as the work progresses. This work began in July, 2000, and is continuing through 2001. By early 2002, we expect to be able to conduct most of our tests of the telescope from Nashville over the Internet and for development of the AST to concentrate more on the spectrograph.
